Wasn't that image in the video?

Proves the point rather well that; the act of procreation (I'm trying to be family friendly) sells. Though I'm not sure what that says about humanity :? . But if you can't beat um join um as they say.

Yes, that was used in the video.

And my sister (the model) said something similar. But, it's a key lesson if it's getting 'hits' to the website, right?
Part of my goal here with my musings is to assist other writers as they market their own material.

Thank you and I'd like to return the favor! Where is the blog at?

My website has been so so on traffic. High point was 90 on one day, usually trends around 30 or so. However, it's not like I have weekly updates, or products to give away to get repeat visits. One and done sort of thing for now.

If you are trending at 30 average, then that is pretty good. As compared to my blog, which is much lower, my highest has been a 38 and lowest is like 1 :D Usually its been about 15 or so. But then again, our blogs are kinda different no?

Anyhow, my blog link is in my sig.

The key I think is to be a part of several forums and sites and stuff. I regularly get hits off the Bolthole and Warseer because I am fairly active on there (not so much warseer anymore). Although I do usually get the weirdest referrals. Then I have my settings set to publish new posts on Twitter and Facebook as well, so that draws in some of my friends and stuff whenever I post something new.

It's all about the presence you have :) If you regularly frequent say a bunch of Sci-Fi forums and sites and keep your blog link in your sig, curious people will follow. Just how it is.

Patience is definitely a big thing. Although given how full steam you've been going and the results you are getting, you definitely have that covered :)

The Publisher put the book up on Kindle. $2.99.

I'll let you all know if sales pick up or not!

I've just downloaded it to my Kindle. I'm about 2/3 of the way through Battle of the Fang, so will probably start on the tyrant tomorrow evening.

Thanks everyone.

I need Amazon.com reviews if you have the time.

Kindle response has been very positive so far on the forums, facebook and through word of mouth. When I say $2.99 people say, "Well, I give homeless beggars about the same so...." and I get a sale.

I plan on hosting a photo contest soon for the book. Just one more avenue to draw in interest. This one I'll be offering money for, but it requires work on the part of the contestant, so I'm unsure if it'll pan out or not.

This thread isn't just about 'me' too. If anyone has had success in marketing, especially at the small guy level, share!

I had a blogtalk radio interview today.

I had time to mention this forum and where I learned my craft! No reason I can't market Bolt Hole and me!

Finally received the novel. Not totally sure if the cover art promotes the story. Read early chapters and am enjoying - reminiscent of Harry Harrison's stainless steel rat in style.

Thanks Jelboy! When you finish the book PM me about the cover and we'll see if book 2 needs a different route.

I received the sales report for May. Worse than April! 15. Well, actually 25, I bought 10 this month and will be sending them to a convention. Still not so hot given the Kindle version is out (only $2.99) and I did a facebook blitz and interview. The publisher says 15 is fine this early in the game, but my goals are a bit loftier than that.

For June and July I'll be trying to get a hold of sci-fi bloggers who do reviews. I looked at five or so and most of them are dealing with larger publishers, but it can't hurt for me to try and send them a book.

I'll report back if any of them are interested and how things go.

Keeping you posted so everyone can learn and grow!

Nice to see the stats. There are a lot of people on a good number of writng forums who declare a party when they sell one book, so you're not doing badly. Stick with the Kindle as that is where eBook sales are increasing rapidly and will continue to do so. Recent free promotions by Amazon on Kindle yielded an average "sale" (free download) of over 3000 copies per book over two and a half weeks. No money, but great exposure.

Another area I am working on is increasing traffic to my blog. I'm doing this by mutually infecting others. We link our blogs and hence mutually icrease exposure and traffic. If you or anyone else wants to do that, please let me know. Traffic is building and from about 30 hits a day, a couple of weeks ago, is now over one hundred.

I will be adding a book review page too ;)

Cheers
