Spring Submission Window

Postby shadowhawk2008 » Sun May 01, 2011 12:59 pm

It is now open ladies and gentlemen!!!!

http://www.blacklibrary.com/Getting-Sta ... brary.html

Just to reiterate it starts today and ends on July 31 sometime.

I think it would be a good idea to maintain a list of people who are submitting in this window and how many shorts/novels they are submitting as well. What do people think?

I myself am submitting at least three short stories, all with space marines, although featuring different chapters. Plan is for perhaps two more short stories. I might take a stab at a novel as well although that is not on the cards really at this point.

Good Idea.

Mister Ed: Three Short Stories (2 xImperial Guard, 1x Space Marine.)

I may have another two, but I'll update closer to the end of the submissions window if I do.

Current plans: 1 short story, definitely. 1 novel pitch if I feel it's up to snuff.

Probably the same as David. A novel pitch is a balls-load of work.

I've had a somewhat unproductive April so "tightening the ideas up into workable things" hasn't really progressed as far as I'd have originally hoped, there is a reasonable chance of one of the two novel ideas I got sort of planned outish becoming worthy of submitting and I have about a dozen things in motion short story wise (with a set of new ideas not mentioned in that which is just a page of my work notebook).

So realistically 3 short stories and one novel sub I'd be happy with. I'd be very happy with more mind but actually matching the two short stories I managed last year and managing to equal how far Bride of Kharn has gotten so far would make me ridiculously happy.

Does anyone know whether your manuscript should be single or double spacing? Obviously we have been told it needs to be 12pt Times in MSWord format.

P.S. Novels = 0 Short Stories = 2

I am keeping to the default settings in Word 2007 which are not double spaced (that is more used for colleges so the TAs/professors can edit in between lines and isnt relevant to this is my understanding).

And updated.

Also, don't double-space. This was asked before, if he wanted that he would have asked for it.

I have 6 short story submissions, currently. I may winnow out one or two as I finish fleshing them out.

I find it vaguely worrying that they specify no more than six pages for the chapter breakdown... I get mine over in one! Most of the detail is in the synopsis, with the breakdown basically being bullet points. Am I missing something here?
