Malky - your baby but do you think a separate thread for the fiction and critique?

I was thinking that myself.

In terms of the Primaris an interesting observation raised was that most of them are waking up to a very different galaxy/world than the one they left, and what is the impact of this on them?

Unfortunately, haven't managed to make a weekender and don't think I ever will. However, glad to see that other people are thinking of these things.

Surely Primaris are ripe for falling to Chaos?

Firstly, hi all! Secondly, I think I'll brew up something on an old favourite of mine - Crimson Fists!

Welcome!
Crimson Fists should be ok, just remember and steer clear of too many known quantities and characters.

Will do, I'm brewing a nice character-focussed plot with original characters as we speak, and I'm hoping it will be a good one!

Think I'll try Lamenters, if that's alright?

I came to the weekender from the states and had a great time. I am so glad I found this place.

I appreciate you guys having this website for this, I can't express how much I needed it.

I am going to do one for the Scythes of the Emperor.

I haven't posted anything here for an age, but I'll change that.

I'll enter something with the Nemesis Chapter.
"I say, Mosley, what is your movement's attitude towards birth control?" Mosley drew himself up to his
full height, hands on hips, and looked the young man up and down, before replying:
"After looking at you, I should think the question of birth control comes about twenty
years too late. Next question, please." The questioner subsided into his seat, and the
meeting continued to a triumphant conclusion. There were no further interruptions.

Hi folks,
Think I'll jump in here for my first bit of Bolthole writing and pick Eagle Warriors. I've got a very short little piece that I might try and expand on. Though it may not be more than a Drabble of an idea... Ah we'll see what happens.

How are people getting on with this?

I'm at around 1800 words (relatively unedited) but at a bit of a crisis point. Don't think the end is going to be as punchy as I imagined it when I started it last week. I've included a secondary x founding chapter for contrast and spent a little too much time on a non-astartes character. Oh, and the action is near non-existent at the mo!

Should finish at 2500-ish words. I hope it works.

I probably knocked mine out a bit too quickly. I'll go back to it in a week or two and realise there are about twenty tweaks that only fresh eyes can see. It's posted and all though so never worry. I'll not be too precious about it.

Had fun writing it but Space Marines have never been my favourite protagonists. Its likely more a failing of my imagination as a writer than in the concept of Space Marines in general. I just never came up with a character I enjoyed enough to keep writing for, though I've enjoyed plenty of other people's Space marine fiction over the yesrs. We've all got our strengths and weaknesses I guess.

I'm sure it's less a writerly failure than just a sizeable hurdle in general, theCrowe. I know the hardest part for me is striking the right balance between believable character motivation and mind-wiped killing machine.

I have a few hundred words for the end scene down, sort of quasi-epiliogue beat that theoretically rams home the themes and characterisation I am aiming for. Switching between day shifts and nightshifts and having shifts run on by an hour or two constantly has gotten in the way a tad. Next day off it is being drafted in its entirity I hope.

I've finished it subject to editing. It was supposed to end a bit further on but I ran out of words. I'm 120+ over the limit but think that will be sorted.

I really wanted to get the story out and i've had to give up character to fit it into the word count. But, hopefully, these guys will get another showing.

Come on folks, time is short! Only 3 days to get your submissions in. Looking forward to the almighty outpouring of Space marine goodness we are surely about to be graced with. Don't let your chosen chapter be left hanging without worthy representation while all the glory goes to some evidently more worthy N'th founding chapter you only just heard of.

No words no worth people- show us why your erstwhile obscure chapter will not fade into further inglorious obscurity!
