In 2010 I was part of a challenge to read 50 "books" in the year. I think I made it however the website I was listing my achievements on at the time had a technical dohickey because I downloaded three corrupted backups so I lost a months worth of posts when I fixed a problem with the site which lead unfortunately to the big old list between book 20 and 40 something (I wasn't very regular with my updates, and I spent a good afternoon thinking about all the books I read in the 5 months I hadn't bothered to update the list) which kinda put me off the listing so whilst I think I did it I cannot be sure. I'm going to list the books I read here, I hope you do so as well. I may add some sort of spoiler free review, I may not, I'd hope to give at least a star rating.
The Challenge originaly (and still has this year) a points based system where the aim is to score 100 points at least in the year. The rules and points are as follows.
What counts?
# Must be at least 50 pages long
# Fiction or non-fiction book
# Paper or e-book
But what about...
# Novels in collections? = counted as separate books
# Short story collections? = counted as a single book
# Poetry collections? = counted as a single book
# Individual plays? = counted as a single book
# Books started last year? = counted if finished this year
# Audiobooks? = counted, but make sure the hard copy of the book is over 50 pages
# Graphic novels and print comics? = counted only if over 100 pages
# Lord of the Rings? volumes count separately, but not books
How are the points awarded?
# 2 points for every book read this year that's over 50 pages (or comic that's over 100 pages)
# 3 points for every book read that's longer than 500 pages
# 3 points for every book read that's in a foreign language (4 points if it's over 500 pages, too)
# 1 point for audiobooks, regardless of length
# 1 point for any book re-read within the 52 weeks of the year
[number.] [title] by [author], ([what it is*]), ([day/month]), [rating out of 5 in *'s], [number of points]
eg
1. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, (F), (01/01), (*****), 2pts

Let's do this thing. I'm aiming to read 200 books in 2012 - A tall order perhaps, but we will have to wait and see. in 2011 I read 154 books, and I'm going to see if I can beat that total in 2012.
