Mr. Green, I was wondering if there was any chance of a return for Badenovs Band.
I really enjoyed The Dead And The Damned and if I remember correctly, it was left quite open for more adventures.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Viking Phil!

When I first wrote The Dead and the Damned it was intended to be an ongoing series, The Saga of Torben Badenov. I have vague notes somewhere for about six or seven titles and had even got as far as working out a fair bit of the plot of Book 2. Legacy of the Damned was going to be my second BL book but then the editors asked me to write Crusade for Armageddon instead.

I was then asked to write a Badenov novel that tied in to the Storm of Chaos campaign but the dates I had established in the stories to date, and the date of the Storm of Chaos were about eight years apart, and so I wrote Magestorm instead.

When Hammer and Bolter came into being, I was told that the editors were looking for new stories but not featuring any old characters, so no Torben Badenov and friends, which was a shame. That said, The Dead and the Damned is now available again as an eBook, so who knows? There's also a Badenov's Band short story in Way of the Dead, also available now as an eBook. (If you check out my blog on Tuesday there's actually going to be a post especially about this.)

If you like my Warhammer stuff you should check out either Hammer and Bolter #9, Hammer and Bolter: Year One or the forthcoming Best of Hammer and Bolter Volume 1, which all feature my new(ish) short story Sir Dagobert's Last Battle.

Ok I have ordered Herald of Oblivion after seeing the promotional images. Necrons and Dark Eldar on a Space Hulk?.... AWESOME!! :D

And one Terminator all on his lonesome, against the Lords of Commorragh. I don't rate his chances highly.

Hey Jon,

I'm playing Herald of Oblivion now, and am currently shooting at 5 Genestealers barelling towards me. I have a question about one of the game mechanics. I have wounded one of the Stealers down to 1 wound and its their turn to attack, two missed and two hit me. But I cannot find my Armor Value for the saves? Can I make saves with my Terminator armor?

Also the melee weapon chart is a bit confusing. I am playing a normal game so Strength and Toughness are not a part of it, but the wounds are much lower. If I strike a target with my Power Fist that has a Damage of x1, do I only make 1 wound per attack?

Hi LotN (and others)

A set of Errata and Advanced Rules have been posted on the Herald of Oblivion product page on the BL site that sorts out the problems you mentioned.

You'll find the Errata here: http://www.blacklibrary.com/Downloads/P ... errata.pdf

And the Advanced Rules set here: http://www.blacklibrary.com/Downloads/P ... -rules.pdf

Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy the book again now.

Thank you very much.

I actually spent much of my birthday writing a new Warhammer short story for Hammer and Bolter. :D

Hi all.

I'm going to be completely transparent with you here...

I'm here to encourage you all to back my Kickstarter project 'YOU ARE THE HERO - A History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks'.

2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first FIGHTING FANTASY gamebook, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. I want to write a book about the history of FF.

YOU ARE THE HERO will tell the story of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, from the early days of Games Workshop right up to the present day, and beyond. Find us and fund us on Kickstarter here: http://lnkd.in/AxjJXa

Feel free to pass the message on and maybe back the project yourself. A number of Black Library authors will be quoted in the book after all, including Graham McNeill and Gav Thorpe. There are also a number of artists associated with both FF and GW who have kindly agreed to contribute to the book too, including Martin McKenna, John Sibbick and David Gallagher.

Thanks

Jon

Do you remember Joe Dever's Lone wolf books? I loved the style of those books, very dark, very warhammer, and with fanatastic John Blanche illustrations. He did a great spin-off as well - it was called Grey-star the wizard.

Dear Mr. Green,
I too have finished The Dead and the Damned and enjoyed it. I would like to hear more if the chance is ever made, even if it's as little as a short story or two to tie up loose ends.

Hi Flick

I may be over two years late, but I do get around to answering my mail eventually... ;-)

I do indeed remember the Lone Wolf books although I wasn't as much a fan of them as I was of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. They read like they wanted to be novels, rather than gamebooks, and lacked the range of choices that FF books had.

Also, I think you'll find the illustrations were by Gary Chalk, in the early books, and then latterly by Brian Williams.

Never going to happen, I'm afraid. The Warhammer World is well on its way to the apocalypse, and I've not been invited to the party.

However, feel free to check out my other projects. Launching in May is SHARKPUNK - an anthology of killer shark stories that I've put together: https://www.facebook.com/storieswithbite

Please do visit the Facebook page, 'Like' it, and tell all your friends. :-)
