Who will buy the anthology for me?
"You were a warleader, a fighter, when did you gain such illuminating insight into the minds of others?"
"I learned such things as you and your brothers applied brand to my flesh and parted skin with rasp and knife," snarled Astelan. "When your witches tried to prise open my mind they opened me for an instant and I stared back."

I'll be there, though not in any official capacity (signings etc).

I haven't been invited to GD this year; bit disappointed, as it would have been my 10th consecutive year in attendence.

seems like somebody wasn't paying attention.

Do you know if you're up for the weekender yet (there has been precious little movement on the guest list on the website for a while).

I'm not at Games Day this year because of the weekender which is a money sink too soon after Games Day for me to cope with financially. Have fun everyone who goes, and let us hope Jim gets an invite for the next 10 so he can finally have achieved something of note.

I'm not at Games Day. The Weekender is still a question mark, depending on whether I can secure a reasonably-paying job.

Definitely not Games Day.
The Weekender II is still undecided, at least partly because there have been frag-all updates about it. Hardly any guest list, no clue as to schedule etc... only a tad over 6 weeks to go and we're supposed to fork out £70 on tickets for... what, exactly?
Come on, BL... digitus extractus!

Yeah that is a bit odd. I am waiting until after Games Day before I start chasing up updates myself as I have a gold ticket and with my gold ticket I was told I'd here more later.

So did anyone go in the end then ?

The event seems to have been a bit .... sparse..... on the GW front, with Forgeworld being the saving grace.

.Well if you dig the HH stuff they produce anyway :P

Any BL gossip or news ?

I've heard that there were no gaming tables at all? That's a new low for GW...

There were absolutely none. Making the name 'Games Day' seem somewhat obsolete.

*boggles*

I had always thought that that was kind of the entire point in Games Day.

they were also according to Guy Haley packing away all the sales stands at half past three (before the day was ending) because he couldn't buy anything after he was done being an author on show.

I never got the bring and play tables, it seemed an expensive way to play games with strangers but the exhibition games were always great fun. Probably harder to do now that most Games Workshop stores seem to have only one staffer, they haven't the man power.

They massively down sized the whole day, I entered Armies on Parade too and they don't even give "places" after the top three armies are chosen, felt like a total waste of time entering it. It was literally one big store, the only additional store I enjoyed were the Seminars, both Black Library and Forgeworld. They were both well done and very informative.

that's a damned shame always used to be quite fun with lots to do (even if I did largely loiter about the BL corner). Turning it into a trade fare seems a bit naff. I suppose the thinking is that the people who go to Games Day are already into the hobby and don't need the joy of it inspired by cool things happening.

The catering was awful to, turned up to get something to eat queued up got to the front and there was nothing left, had to make do with some m&ms and crisps.

They moved it back to the NIA in the middle of town, which is being refurbished so half of the place isn't available. Didn't have any proper food stands, just two make shift ones which ran out pretty quickly.

Holding it at the NIA is not in itself an admission of failure. It used to be there back in the days when I used to go and it was packed with gaming tables, etc. The NIA is still a huge floor space; in fact when I strolled past GD in 2009 (I was rebuilding the LG arena at the time) it looked like the main area was substantially smaller than it had been at the NIA.

I think there is likely more floorspace in the LG spread over various parts (last couple of GDs I went to they had various connected areas) which led to less competing floor space requirements between gaming and selling and the facilities around the LG with regards food stands and the like whilst pricey in the way only food retail catering to a captive market can be seemed a step up from when I went to the NIA.

It needn't be a retrograde step mind depending on how much of the venue was actually available.
